KUALA LUMPUR, 30 May 2025 — GVU Fajar Timur Sdn Bhd, a consortium of strategic renewable energy players including Voltake Energy Services Sdn Bhd, has awarded a RM100.75 million contract to Samaiden Group Bhd for the development of a 27.6-megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Pasir Mas, Kelantan.
This project is part of the government’s Large-Scale Solar 5 (LSS5) programme, aimed at accelerating Malaysia’s transition towards cleaner energy sources. The solar plant is scheduled to begin operations by 24 July 2027, contributing directly to the national renewable energy target.
Under the contract, Samaiden will be responsible for the full Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) works. The appointment underscores GVU Fajar Timur’s confidence in Samaiden’s proven capability to deliver high-impact solar infrastructure on time and within scope.
A spokesperson from GVU Fajar Timur said the consortium is proud to play a leading role in advancing the renewable energy agenda in the east coast region.
“This project demonstrates our long-term commitment to sustainable energy development and reflects the strength of collaboration between key industry players such as Voltake and Samaiden.”
This milestone marks another strategic achievement for GVU Fajar Timur, especially as it positions itself to support both public and private sector efforts to increase solar penetration in Malaysia’s energy mix.
GVU Fajar Timur’s project in Pasir Mas is also seen as a significant boost for the local economy, with job creation, technical training, and solar supply chain engagement expected throughout the project lifecycle.
Samaiden’s stock, meanwhile, closed 2.7% lower at RM1.07 on Bursa Malaysia, valuing the company at approximately RM494 million.
